What Are Deformed Bars

Built-in grip for a stronger bond with concrete

Deformed reinforcement bars, also known as deformed rebar, are steel bars with ridges along their length. These deformations improve friction and bonding with concrete, preventing slipping and producing a stronger hold than smooth bar.

They're made of high-strength steel and are the industry standard for concrete foundations, beams, bridge decks, retaining walls and other areas where concrete strength is paramount.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a deformed bar recommended?

Deformed bars are recommended for projects where strength and crack resistance is paramount. The ridges along their surface help concrete establish a better grip, while allowing room for natural movement and preventing cracking.

Are deformed bars better than smooth bars?

In general, deformed steel bars are better than smooth bars for most concrete projects. Their improved concrete bonding properties mean your builds will last longer and can endure heavier loads.
